However, it is always worthwhile knowing what options are open to you.
Choose the right platform
If you do want to create your website yourself, then you are going to need the right platform that is going to work for your needs. There are plenty of options out there and in order to make sure that you find one that is right for you, then you are going to need to assess each option and see which one has what you are looking for. The most popular out there are WordPress, Wix, Squarespace and Weebly. If you are setting up an e-commerce site then there are also specific e-commerce options, which includes Shopify.
Each option has its own pros and cons, which you will need to consider before you make your decision on which one is going to be the best option for you.
Select a theme or a template
Once you know what you want your website to do and you know where you want to do it; then the time has come to start putting together the design. The majority of platforms will have themes or templates that you can then use for your own website.
The template builds the bare bones of the website and you will then be able to populate it with the information that relates to your business.
Time to design
When you have finished the basics, then you need to start thinking about how your website will actually look and the content that you will have on there. You need to think about colour scheme, positioning, fonts and of course the imagery that you are going to use. You also need to consider the content that you want to have on there too. This is an incredibly important part of the process.
The thing about website design is that it seems straightforward, but the truth is that it can actually be incredibly difficult to get to grips with and to work on. There are plenty of areas that you need to learn about and also mistakes that you can make along the way too.
